Though the bugs were out in force and the weather was a bit touch and go, our annual triples tournament was quite a success! The 12 players were split into 2 larger teams, competing in 12 rounds of play. And while one of our teams came out to an early 5-1 game lead, the other fought back valiantly, just barely missing out on forcing a tiebreaker for a final game score of 7 to 5.
For those who are unaware, triples tennis is a variant with three players per side, designed as a casual but fast-paced game where every player gets lots of touches on the ball. The weekly triples league plays on Sunday nights, and is free for anyone with a club membership. It’s a fun and casual drop-in league, and we’re always happy to have more players.
